A week or so ago, I had the chance to try Orglamix shadows, and it was love at first brush stroke. An up-and-coming mineral makeup  company, their colors are extremely wearable, blend well, and the company’s philosophy of eco-friendly beauty is too good not to adore.

Because Cheri, the creator of Orglamix, is just plain awesome, she’s giving away a set of her gorgeous shadows just for our readers! Included in the prize is the Wearable Collection, a set of six shadows that would look gorgeous on anyone, valued at $24.75. The colors in the kit are: Cafe Au Lait, Silk, Sweet Pea, Moonstone, Buttercup,  and Sandalwood.

How to enter? It’s a simple as leaving a comment below. You have until next Saturday, October 3rd at noon PST to enter, one entry per reader.

There’s one thing I would like you all to do, though –hop on over to Operation Beautiful, a super blog that beauty blogger Clumps of Mascara mentioned earlier this week.

Review: Orglamix Eye Shadows

19 09 2009

By Sheila

Can you look good and help preserve the planet in the meanwhile? That’s what Orglamix promises, and I was recently118 given the opportunity to try out some of their eyeshadows. Cheri, the company’s creator, picked out Teak, Sweet Pea, and Snow shadows with my brown eye color in mind and she did a fabulous job. The colors are the perfect shades for creating a natural and pretty look that is extremely wearable any time of the day.

In relation to shadows I’ve tried in the past, these are very smooth, and not as chunky as some other minerals. The color payoff is excellent — you dip your brush in the shadow, apply, and you don’t need to go back to keep packing on color. As far as the packaging, I love the fact that the shadows come with a sifter, which is not frequently the case with other mineral companies!

As you can probably tell from my past reviews, good color payoff is very important to me! If there’s one thing I can’t stand makeup-wise, it’s shadows that look pretty in the packaging and yet you have to spend time packing the shadow on your lid in the attempt to get at least something on there resembling the color in the pot (ahem, ahem, company with three letters you’re guilty of this).   In contrast, Orglamix shadows apply and blend very well, and if you wanted to enhance the appearance, you could always apply them on top of a creamy base.

Oh, and the most important part of this review: did it pass the longevity test? You know, did it stay on after running around with my 2 year old for hours? YES! That in itself is never a bad thing. 🙂

Besides being pretty to look at, Orglamix’s products are synthetic-free, eco-friendly,  and paraben-free (you can read more about parabens in Taryn’s recent review). Help the planet while looking good? Check.

I have to say that I LOVE the company’s philosophy …we should all strive to be more like this:

Orglamix Believes:
» Natural beauty shouldn’t cost a fortune
» That six deep breaths a day can improve your life
» We are all beautiful inside and out
» That you already make a difference in the world
» Speak your mind from your heart
» A good laugh should be an essential ingredient to your day

Orglamix products are available on Etsy.com, where they have 100% positve feedback.
