The lowdown on Taryn

Hello, everyone! I guess I will start with the basics here.  I’m 33, very fair (NW15 is a tad too dark for me), acne-prone and have blue eyes/blonde hair.  Cosmetics has been an interest of mine since my teenage years.  With my best friend in tow, I would walk up to the local pharmacy actually named Drug Palace (!) and look for any new finds.  One particular favorite was what looked like a book of matches but the tips were actually fuschia lipstick.  Not the most flattering, but fun all the same.

I became really immersed in cosmetics and skincare when I joined the Kevyn Aucoin beauty forum back in 2001 and met many like-minded gals such as co-publisher Sheila.  This was the place where I learned so much about the different brands available, what colors suited my skintone and application techniques.

My interest in beauty has branched out to a few different areas, including a love of Japanese and Korean cosmetics.  Many of their skincare products are life-savers for my oily skin and the packaging on their makeup is so cute, or kawaii! I am also interested in eco-conscious brands and becoming aware of what’s in my products.  I do have to be completely honest –  just because I’m aware of what’s in those items doesn’t mean I have managed to ditch every non-green product in my regimen.  There are some products too good to give up, but I have been able to keep those to a minimum, thankfully.

On that same note, one of my biggest interests is environmentalism and working towards clean air.  I also enjoy Japanese anime/manga, gaming, reading just about anything from articles on bowling to aviation, and listening to music ranging from Fleetwood Mac to opera.
